So... yeah. He's not the most liked, but there is a fandom.

Yeah, you are right. I guess I'm showing my snobbishness and preferences. Not these all aren't good (yours too! Especially the block transference Computations) and I'm quite fond of Van Donovan. It's just that most of these are so short! I prefer multi-chaptered plotfics, with my second choice being 5000-10,000 word one shots and PWPs. Stories I have time to sink into. I rarely bother to read vignettes and drabbles, no matter the fandom. They just aren't satisfying.

I pretty much mined Teaspoon. I do check back every now and then.

The Block-Transfer one wasn't mine

The girl I linked to on dA does, like I say, have a very long series of mutli-parter fics.

On Teaspoon, there's a few. Admittedly not many, most of which I haven't read, because, to be honest, I tend to find that mutli-parter fics don't hold my attention unless they're really, REALLY good.

LOL. Yeah, I'm totally the opposite. I can read a drabble in about 10 seconds -- it doesn't seem worth the effort of pressing the link. Plot is more important to me than characters -- and part of Adric's appeal to me is that he is eminently plottable.

I mean between the incredible brilliance and his utter naivete, he makes the perfect pawn in someone elses machinations. And yet, under the arrogance, he honestly is a good kid who wants to do what's best. He just needs guidance. If the guidance comes from someone good, he's a force for good, if the guidance comes from someone evil, he's a force for evil. He's like the fulcrum of the plot -- who can manipulate him better? He's spent all his life being either told to sod off or else praised for what useful things he can provide. He clings to his award like it's his only proof of worth. It seems his arrogance seems like overcompensation for a person who is, deep down, pretty sure that he'd be left totally alone and ignored if he didn't.

He was just on the cusp of maturity when they killed him off -- I have to wonder what sort of person he would have turned into under the Doctor.

Strangely enough, I've had this Adric multi-parter plot bunny for ages, which I haven't written because it'd be... kind of weird.

Oh...?

Well... if I say that it might end up having the Tenth Doctor and Donna in it (but no Forth or Fifth at all), and be partially set on Gallifrey... and it doesn't really work with both those elements, but neither does it work if I remove either.

AU: The doctor finds some widgety thingamabeeber that causes "time eddies" and "reality reconstruction" and presto, Donna has her memory, Adric is alive and Gallifrey is out there.

It'd be pre-Journey's End, so that isn't a problem, and I have a reason for Adric being alive (that being the whole basis for the story).
But Tenth Doctor + Gallifrey = WTF, self?

All that matters is that it works. Trust me. No matter how unlikely it may seem, if it works and leads to an exciting story, readers will forgive you.

Well most will. The canon-only crowd will winge, but who cares about them.

Hopefully, yeah... well, it'll be a while before I write it, so I can come up with something.

At present, my explanation runs like this: the Doctor goes to Gallifrey at a point in it's time line before it was destroyed, which wouldn't be possible if it weren't for the fact that he was already part of said time line as his tenth self. Cause technically it's happened in the fifth Doctor's era, and Gallifrey was still around then... or something. it makes sense in my head...
