I don't even know what the fuck this game is about, besides "it's the future and you're a cyborg." Like, what is the actual fucking plot? why is it groundbreaking? why are people jizzing themselves over this game besides Keanu Reeves? what the fuck does Keanu even have to do with this game besides being in the ads I've seen on hulu?

that said, I have a friend who works in the gaming industry and the actual shit going down is reasonably worth being upset over. Devs being thrown under the bus by management, Sony and Microsoft literally pulling the game and issuing refunds because it's so buggy it can't be played, etc. that's legitimate. That's a problem, way more than who you can fuck in-game. From what I hear from other game devs about the poor folks who had to crunch and then put out this piece of shit that has already been recalled, this is pretty epic for the gaming industry and a real shitshow.

Me? I play Ace Attorney games and popcorn this shit because I have zero investments.

((spoilers))

The plot is that you’re a mercenary in a cyberpunk city working gigs for various crime bosses until one day a job goes south and you end up accidentally downloading the “ghost” of a rock star/anarchist/terrorist (Keanu) into your brain, which is going to slowly kill you as his personality overwrites yours. He is a total asshole but has no control over this fate either, so you begrudgingly work together to “rage against the machine” in every sense.

As a casual gamer, I wanted to play it because it looked like a thoughtful and well-developed blend of all the best parts of driver/shooter/RPG games, with exceptional visuals and character modification out the nose - the next level of open world game. But it was undercooked, so it’s only an “okay” game with lots of bugs, incomplete elements and looks like dog shit on all but the highest end gaming PCs. Keanu’s character, all the voice acting and the soundtrack are great, but everything else has been done before (and better) by BioWare or Rockstar. So IF you can get it to play without crashing it’s still a pretty good time, but nothing very original and definitely not what was hyped.
