What historical periods do you wish were more present in media? Both in timeline and in culture/country/region.

(we need a non-holiday topic, this sounds like fun)

Were there any black cowboys? Genuinely curious.

Most cowboys and outlaws in the Wild West were Hispanic or Black. As white America expanded West so did the stories about the cowboys in the Wild West. Worth looking up.

I'd love more ancient set stuff that isn't Rome or Greece.

Stuff set in the Russian empire because it has always interested me.

More things set during the early civil rights movement (and before, in the period where people were still fighting back, though it wasn't as organized) and the early fight for women's rights and the Suffragettes.

I'd like stuff set during the period of European colonies, but from the perspective of the people colonized rather than the European perspective.

I think a change of tune would be more interesting.

- Native American histories from their perspectives
- The trail of tears
- Examples of horrendous acts of American corporations abroad such as the Bhopal disaster, Coca Cola stealing water from local villages
- Stories about the lives of Ethiopians and other immigrants in the brutally harsh regime of Saudi Arabia
Etc etc my god, so much crap has happened that never gets discussed or shown in stories.

Colonisation has been discussed to death, and it's not even relevant to much of modern life anymore. Humanities evils didn't start there and they didn't end there either. For fucks sake,.the sub-saharan slave trade was still trading to the Middle East until the 1960s.

1900s-1910s, so like WWI and the lead-up to it, women's suffrage movement, early days of automobiles, air travel, motion pictures... I'm no expert on the era, but I think there's a lot of potential there for stories in that post-Gilded Age but pre-1920s time, when things were still recognizably not modern, but so much of what we consider the foundations of modernity were being developed.

More Wars of the Roses and Tudor era stuff that's NOT Philippa Gregory.

17th century Europe! Please make things about the 17th century! It's so fascinating!

You have this century of massive upheaval and breakdown of society, full of titanic wars and intrigue and vast battles, with pikes and flags and cannon. You have, basically, the invention of modern Europe - incredible innovations in every field of study, geniuses basically everywhere. You have people like Wallenstein or Cromwell rising from obscurity to positions of massive power. You have a mood, all across Europe, of people who are on the one hand incredibly vulgar and frank and interesting in ways that often feel very modern, but also a lot of attitudes that feel really alien to us.

And lastly, you have ornate, incredible, great clothes. Seriously, these people were *obsessed* with clothes.

I'd love some media, especially games, that features 1950's - 1990's Italy or Greece that have nothing to do with mafia or war.
