This is honestly the most healthy take on the matter. Quite frankly the most forward thinking as well. I stopped participating in fandom a very long time ago, and while I'd find myself wanting to get back into it- these last few years of... this... has undeniably killed any want to become involved again.

Imo, personally- it's when you exasperate something to the point that it cannot be discussed/envisioned without becoming associated with that something by default, then that is where the problem persistently lies.
Shows, movies, games, books, comics- whatever the type of media it may be- their purpose be it to tell a story, entertain, and be convincing.
It's simply /because/ there is no winning when it comes to overplaying the basic concept of pure political correctness.

Representation is one thing, sure. But any and everything should really only be addressed on the event that it comes up naturally.

There's nothing "natural" about media, much less the forms of censorship that prevent good stories about lgbtq people being told. (Yes, present tense for some segments of the industry.) Reading lists and recs exist because in a very short time diverse stories have become more mainstream rather than limited to a very short list of publishers and distributors.
