Re: Inspired by #2 - What is Your Least Favorite Xmas/Holiday Movie?

Have always loathed Home Alone. I can't even quite put my finger on why I hate it so much. I mean I am approximately of an age with Macaulay Culkin, so it's not just that it was a movie for kids and I'm not a kid - I hated it when I was a kid too. A part of it I think is all the slapstick-comic-related injury, and I just can't watch people get hit in the head that many times, it gives me a headache after awhile.

...Having said that my favorite holiday movie is Lethal Weapon so I'm not sure how that works. Maybe because I've never been shot, drowned, beaten up in a fistfight, etc. so I don't find the kinds of injury people sustain in that movie relatable.

Honestly, Home Alone is a pretty terrible movie unless you love the slapstick. It falls flat as a family movie (seriously, fuck Kevin's entire family), and any Christmas messages it tries to send out are mixed at best.

The actual touching family moment is reserved for the scary old neighbor, as it should be.
