I do this sometimes too, not to every fic I save, but the occasional one because while I'll like the overall story or premise there's just a little something stopping me from fully enjoying it so I edit out what I don't care for so I can re-read it happily. Usually it's small things like an overuse of epithets or taking out/changing dialogue I find so cringey I need to re-word it into something that doesn't make me pull a face.
