DA - I've done it both ways, and I prefer no beta. Fanfic should be fun, IMO, and so you should write to please yourself first and foremost. Spelling and grammar is one thing, if you know you have issues with that, but otherwise, there's no need to have too many cooks in the kitchen.

Some of us don't think it's fun to post bad fanfic, though. Clearly, you do, and I wish I knew who you were so I could put you on my block list.

Hmm, or I guess after 20 years of posting excellently-received fic and winning actual words for my original, published writing, I just know what I'm doing and don't need someone else's "expert insight".

An example of why I will gladly take advice and suggestions from professional, paid, experienced editors. I don't give self-proclaimed "great" editors the same credit, considering betas are often no better at writing than anyone else in fandom.
