Re: New Year's Resolutions

I mean, I tell myself I'll try to do stuff, and mostly don't manage. This year I was gonna try and be a bit more social and joined a book club. Went to two meetings and people seemed nice, before the world went to shit and the meetings moved to Zoom. My home wifi is too slow to make that work.

I also stopped walking for exercise after two years of doing 5+ miles a day (in 2018) and 6.5+ a day in 2019. When all the gyms closed suddenly my solitary nighttime walks turned into a procession of recovering gym-buffs out powerwalking. I'm fat and slow and read as I walk except when I'm sticking my nose in flowers and petting random dogs and cats. Maybe I should just buy a treadmill.

I'm hoping to start walking for exercise again this year but we'll see.

I gave up sugar (and honey, agave syrup, all that stuff) for all of January a couple years ago, because I knew I could do a month but probably not a year. If I had lost weight or felt better or been better able to concentrate or even felt any positive difference at all by February 1, I would've kept going. But literally nothing changed for me.
