I actually have noticed this phenom in many fandoms, and yeah sometimes shipping gives you this feeling that they're more invested in versions of one character rather than the ship itself, but honestly, some people ship multiple things, and like one character in multi-ships. You should just boost as much as possible the things you like!

I can't boost for the life of me because I quickly become discouraged by a lack of like minded fans. I shall stick to just writing fic for my vision of the characters. Posting meta is beyong me at this point - there was some developement in that ship fandom since I posted this secret.
