I find it both funny and irritating.

I get that they are probably trying to stave off some of the inevitable accusations of being creepy, but it's exasperating how often you see the sentiment.

I, myself, hope that anyone who reacts to (non-tinhatter) people who write RPF with contempt or superiority and watches/watched The Crown (or Chernobyl or All The Money in the World or The Imitation Game or The Social Network or any one of thousands of other acclaimed projects that are based on real people) shrivels a little in their soul because of the hypocrisy. Especially since the speculative parts or parts where dramatic license was used can and do affect how others think and feel about the real people they are based upon.

I don't like RPF *and* I don't like fictionalised versions of living people, is that ok? But I would take both over gossip magazine bullshit because they try to pretend it's real.
