(Anonymous) 2021-01-09 07:36 am (UTC)(link)If you're writing a gift fic for someone, your priority is to write something your reader will enjoy. Period. That is your top priority. So if you know your recipient's identity (which doesn't happen in all exchanges, some are double-blind), you should kind of stalk their fics and their recs to see the characterizations they enjoy most. If you can't do that, then a beta will help you stick close to canon at least. Canon is your best bet.
Exchanges are not the place for your ~unique vision~. Exchanges are the place to make a gift that someone else will enjoy.
Of course you can write your unique vision and post it anywhere at any time you like, without a beta, at will.
NOT in an exchange though.
