There's a difference between people who write as a love for their fandom and those who want a predetermined accommodation for what their work because they think it's some sort of payment for their effort.
This isn't a job, it's a hobby, an enjoyment. Sure, it's discouraging if you get /nothing/ in response, but by putting it out there in the first place it's you who are taking the risk. Don't be so offended just because it doesn't land.
