Re: Which decade do you think put out the best or worst movies?

I mean, you're not wrong, imo. Remakes and spinoffs and adaptations very much have a place in cinema, and I like a lot of movies of that variety. But. I do think the film industry has leaned into that trend way, way too hard, to the point that it has gotten tiresome and dull. Original content is an important part of the film landscape.

Unfortunately, I suspect it'll be a good long while before a large enough percentage of movie-goers get sick enough of remakes and spinoffs and adaptations that those movies start taking a dip at the box office, thus giving the signal to large studios and producers to start investing in original properties again.

Or maybe that won't ever happen. Maybe movie-goers have, on average, become distractible and disengaged enough that mainstream movies can simply repeat and recycle the same basic content indefinitely without losing said movie-goer's interest. In which case I guess we'll just have to look more and more to indie production companies for original content.

there are some remakes, movies based on TV shows, etc. that I like, I just think there are too many of them in general.
