Works better if you cut a hole in both sides, though. The air flow makes the milk pour more easily. :)

Well, you use a pitcher, but the bag inside it, and cut one corner of the bag! Voila!

(But cutting the corner can be harder than it looks. If you cut it too wide, the milk will spill all over! :o)

There's a technique to it.. they even sell those little cutter things, we used to have one that had a magnet on it, so when not in use, it was stuck to the fridge...

Okay. Look at the secret - see the white plastic container in the picture there? It's in the shape of the bags, with a handle. You slide a bag into the container and snip off the corner. Gravity sorta the bag in the container so that the bag doesn't fall out when you pour. At least until the bag volume gets low, and then sometimes they slip a bit and you need your other hand to hold the bag.

I'm Canadian, but where I'm currently living (Calgary, Alberta) only cartons and jugs are sold. I've been living here since I was 9, so I'm going on distant memory here - there's probably a name for those plastic containers that is escaping me now.


And personally, I prefer cartons. But I can't imagine actually hating a country for how they package their milk. I mean, WTF.

My bf is from Alberta recently, so I just asked him if he had the bags out west, and he said the first time he saw bagged milk was when he moved to Ontario in '94..
Weird. It's okay, Alberta has chips in boxes. Yay for Old Dutch!

I live in Alberta, and I think I've seen it once. But that was over 10 years ago and was being served to a large number of kids, so yeah.

I'd never heard of bagged milk before a Canadian I know mentioned it. (I'm British) It strikes me as a weird concept, but it's not exactly a BFD.... I just can't get my head around the concept of a liquid in a bag. XD
