Dude, as far as I'm concerned, this Matt Smith is as col as the next guy and I wish him all the best in the world.

But I would totally prefer the next Doctor to be old and not even prettier than the last one. Or black. Or nonhuman. Or a girl. Or -

Well, the Doctor IS nonhuman. Unless you're talking about casting a nonhuman actor, which I think is a little outside the realms of possibility at this point. (I'm imagining Pedro the Drug Dog in the Tardis.)

I agree with you on the other points.

I was actually envisioning more latex. Maybe the Doctor has a random thought about Klingons or Twileks or some other alien equivalent during a rez and - bam! Lulz are had.

Alternately, a parrot doctor would be pretty sweet. Or a warthog. Or a mongoose.

IDK about Smith being prettier than Tennant. He has pretty boy hair, yeah, but his facial structure in some of those promo pics looks pretty fug. Maybe it's just a bad angle? I hope not.

And as much as I'd love to see a POC or woman doctor, the wank that would cause would almost not be worth it. I was hoping to get an older guy, though. At least Christopher Eccleston old. ~~I still miss him.~~

All's forgiven if we finally get a non-human Companion, though. I've been wanting to see an alien chick in the TARDIS ever since Jabe was so thoroughly awesome in the second episode.

Well he's pretty young, and pretty . . . pretty. Which smacks to me of more-of-the-same, but then I haven't seen what sort of Doctor Smith is bringing to the table in terms of mannerisms and personality and such, so I really should keep my conclusions to myself until they can be supported with facts.

Yeah. :/ Like I said, wish he was older. But, really, it all comes down to the acting, which we haven't seen yet. And then, like I said, there's always the hope of the Companions providing the variety. Though probably not, if Moffat goes through with this River Song thing. People hated on RTD for 'Suing up Rose, but, honestly, I thought she was mostly handled pretty well. But between River and the friggin' Madame du Pompadour...

I don't know, exactly, but I do know it would happen. This is Who fandom, after all. I suppose it might be minimal over a nonwhite Doctor. I'll give our fandom that much. I mean, in the Rose-Martha wank, from what I could tell, there were far more accusations of racism than actual instances. But a woman? With all the fangirls crushing on the Doctor*? We're looking at a shitstorm of the ugliest female misogyny this side of yaoi fandom.

*Disclaimer: I'm absolutely in love with him myself. But that wouldn't change if he were a woman. In fact, it's distinctly possible I might fall harder.

Annie is terrific. And Toph just rocks.

That is wank I would support purposefully inciting. Proportionally speaking, 11 white male doctors out of 13 potential incarnations is a bit skewed in any case, though arguments can be made about the Doctor's self-perception in terms of gender, so I'm all right with a perpetually male doctor. I know a couple of people who wouldn't mind going through at least one resurrection as the opposite gender, just for the hell of it, but Doctor Who is TV, not psychology, so whatever.

I'm actually a bad Doctor Who fan, because I haven't watched since 9. What can I say? I was just fond of Eccleston.

I can't say I blame you. The second season wasn't as good as the first, imho, though the third got better, and I never did learn to love Tennant as much as Eccleston. Which, honestly, is probably a large part of the reason I don't have much to say about Smith. My Doctor's been gone for a while anyway.

Yeah, that was intentional. ^_^;

Right. I'd like to watch the Ten seasons, as well as, say, classic 4, on DVD on my own time, but my own time's hard to come by.
