110. Don't worry about it too much. It's annoying when people jump to conclusions like that, but if they judge you just because the dislike people who happen to like the same character as you, they probably weren't worth your time anyway.

117. In my dreams, he collaborates with a good writer on a series that requires frequent drastic costume changes. *_* Ahhh...

125. A big factor in whether I'll like a song or not is how much it inspires me creatively. Which is kind of similar, I think?

145. I have such conflicting feelings about this movie (which I haven't seen). On one hand, I love WWII movies. On the other, TOM FUCKING CRUISE. ;____; And I keep hearing it's good... I've more or less settled on renting it when it comes out.

147. I think it's rather silly when people get angry about others using their fanart for graphics (if you don't want people using it, don't put it on the internet... and the characters aren't even yours), but I think you need to chill. Unless they say things like "I won't draw anymore until I recieve x amount of donations." asking for donations or having a Paypal button doesn't make them some kind of horrible person. If all of their art is free to people who don't donate, then they aren't actually selling anything.

178. Yeah, their translations are kind of all over the place. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're pretty awful. But, why would you want them to redraw the sound effects? Viz is the only publisher that does that, to my knowledge. They usually end up obscuring more of the art than if they'd left the old ones in.

182. This is why I mostly stay out of fandom, but it doesn't help very much.

template: This is excellent. I hate those secrets more than I ship it/I'd hit it secrets combined.

I'm torn with the sound effects. You're right in that it's part of the art, and that changing it can often obscure MORE of the original art... but the original author intended it the same way stylized BAM! and POW! and WHOOSH! appear in American comics. It's a pain to always have to flip to the back of the book to read the glossary of sfx terms. Some scanlators I know will have a small "SFX: BOOM BOOM" next to the original, and that's okay, I think, if it's not obscuring any of the original art... personally, I can read the kana used for most SFX, so I don't mind if they're not romanized, but to not translate them ON the page? It's kind of a pain. And in many manga, the SFX are crucial to understanding someone's reaction or where someone is.

I agree that they're important. Does TP use a glossary? I haven't bought manga from them in a long time, so I can't remember. But yeah, that's a pain. I like Del Rey's way of doing it. They put the translation of the sound effects in small text next to the original Japanese sound effects. IIRC, Yen Press does something similar. So yeah, it's pretty close to the way a lot of scanlators do it. I think it's the best way, since you get translations where you need them without editing the original art much. Plus, I'd imagine it lets them put out volumes faster... Can you imagine being the person who has to shop all the SFX in a shounen manga? D:
