I'm obsessed with rarepairs, I have quite a few. So wanted to ask people about rare/crack ships that they enjoy or heard about!

Thanks to a very cracky humor blog I used to enjoy, I crack ship Galadriel/Sauron. Yes, the order is that way for a reason. I only ship it crackily and only in a specific way.

I ship Leia/Admiral Holdo. I just like the idea of them having a fling during their early friendship when either they were in the Imperial Senate or after they'd officially joined the Rebellion. Leia/Han is still endgame to me. But I like this ship as a short term thing.

TLJ would be a much better movie if the Poe, Leia, and Holdo relationships were all more explicitly erotically charged and romantic imo

Using a loose definition of "rare", Thor/Steve. They probably have way more than main pairings in small fandoms but are tiny in the MCU.

I was a fan of Castiel/Crowley back when I watched Supernatural. They had a fun canon dynamic. They were always such fun assholes to each other.

Because of Attack on Titan's final season starting, I've gone back to the Reiner/Porco tag which... still has nearly nothing. XD Damnit.

It's just a very messy pairing that would have a lot of potential if it wasn't a very sunk ship. The angst train, guys!! It's GOT SO MANY STOPS WITH THIS ONE. I'm hoping that now the anime's arrived I'll get some food. Or maybe I'll get inspired to make myself a snack...

Alyson/Eddy from Tell Me Why is currently occupying my brain space right now. The game has less than 50 fics on AO3 and they're all Tyler/Michael or Tyler/Alyson, hence this being a rarepair - but why would I go for wholesome gays or some crazy incest when I can indulge in terrible age differences and understated devotion?

Maybe not a rarepair, but I 100% ship Dio/Johnathan... in a non-canon kinda way. Erina is obviously perfect for him, but if she didn't exist for some reason...

I love GingerRose (General Hux/Rose Tico from Star Wars), it's a domme relationship in my headcanon but I also like the reversal of that.

The one reason I can't ship these two unless a third character is added is that to me they are both very dominant, and I can't see either of them being particularly willing to submit, especially to the other.

Rose Tico/Kylo Ren They're both highly entertaining when exercising their rage. I like that Kylo Ren's rage is rooted in him choosing to lose his family while Rose's family rage is rooted in her losing her family at the hands of others. Like, Kylo Ren killed his dad, and then in the next film we see Rose lose her sister. Also, my queer ass thinks Kelly Marie Tran and Adam Driver are fucking HOT. They would make a hot ass couple. Been waiting for them to star together as a couple in a movie but IDK if that will ever happen.

Angela Kinsey/Roy Anderson from The Office OK so maybe I have a kink for big burly dudes and petite women pairing up? I always thought it was funny that Angela seemed to dislike Pam but had a crush on Roy. And Roy did pick Angela for "Who Would Yo Do?"
They seem like they would have gotten along well. Roy doing manly things for Angela while he comes to enjoy her cats and going to church with her. I also think their romance would be one where when they argue they often do it mostly for the makeup sex. Angela likes men competing over her, and Roy was more aggressive in his jealousy and competitive nature. Also, I would imagine they would go over-the-top cutesy and show-off at work related events as a means to show up Jim and Pam.

My favorite is still Matt the Radar Technician/Leslie Jones's character (who wasn't named) from that Undercover Boss SNL skit a few years ago, lol.

Same here! My headcanon is that her character is also named Leslie Jones, because Leslie Jones transcends reality. She calls him her hot toasted marshmallow and he brings her a muffin every day.

My favorite (or at least the only I can really think of now) is Martha Jones & The Master (Simms).

It's a really messed up dynamic and I love enemies to lovers except in this case, I don't think the antagonization would ever end. And the conflict it would create for her at least (because Master is crazy) is super interesting to me to explore. But it's not only a rare pair, but it's also (in some circles) hated. I know it chock full issues, but that's what makes it interesting to me.

In general, my favorite pairings are two people who are enemies, or can't stand each other. I also enjoy (obviously aged up) Hermione & Lucius, Hermione & Savior. I'd include Sirius, but I don't think it's as rare a pair as the two former pairings. Dramione is obvious, but not rare. A lot of times the rare pairs I like are overlooked characters or antagonists.
