Those are fairy tales, not fables.

And most fairy tales are the very opposite of sexist considering the time they were collected or written in.

Fairy tales often teach pretty useful lessons for the times, too.

Not all of them. They made a point of collecting myths and legends as well as out right fairy tales.

This is particularly evident in their earlier works, before they were 'cleaned up' for children to read- which they had never been intended for in the first place.
