NAYRT but while that's true, taking two characters that definitely have canon queerness to them and wanting to genderbend them for your own original fic when you could have just... created new characters... stinks a little of something.

I'm not familiar but aren't they genderless to begin with? Why are people so offended that someone enjoys a canon-ish - I'm assuming - ship dynamic and wants to genderbend it? It's not like they're going "ew, The Gays :(!" so. I could understand being annoyed by it if a majority of people did it but that doesn't seem to be the case...?
