Re: List The Podcasts You Listen To
(Anonymous) 2021-01-17 01:37 am (UTC)(link)You're Wrong About:
2 writers with journalism background pick a topic and dissect all the misconceptions we have about it. They've recently gotten some attention for a 5 Part story about the life and death of Princess Diana (new episodes were coming out right when the new season of The Crown was released). I love this podcast because they are really good at humanizing all sorts of people and they also make me think more critically about the way the systems we live in are set up to fail us. Michael and Sarah are really funny and I love the research they do for this podcast.
Maintenance Phase:
Sister podcast to YWA. This podcast debunks the misconceptions about fad diets, weight, fat shaming, and diet culture. Aubrey and Michael are very passionate and are very funny.
Why Are Dads?:
Another sister podcast to YWA. This one is the more laidback podcast though they do talk openly about the struggles of growing up with a dad in a patriarchal society. The 2 hosts, Sarah from YWA and her friend Alex watch a movie and talk about fatherhood in relation to the film and to their own relationships with their dads. They often have guests on the show and the guests talk about their dads too. One of the most recent episodes was about Bean Dad on Twitter** which isn't a film but their fans wanted them to talk about it.
**I'll add this link about Bean Dad to anyone who may not know who or what Bean Dad is:

Underunderstood:
4 friends find dead ends on the internet and use one episode to dive deep into it and try to find the answers. One of the most recent episodes was about the live audiences on The Masked Singer. The show is a lot of fun if you like jumping into a mystery/random topic and be taken on a ride where you don't know where it's going but along the way you pick up all sorts of neat random facts.
Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen:
2 journalists talk to victims, including some high profile Hollywood figures, of a con artist who has been running this weird scheme that's messed up a lot of up and coming people who work behind-the-scenes in the entertainment industry. They spend the whole series trying to find out who this "Con Queen" is.
Scam Goddess:
Laci Mosley is a comedian who brings a friend on the show to talk about a real con artist in history. It's a really funny show and I love how it covers all sorts of scams, recent scams and old scams.
The Renner Files:
This is a parody(ish) podcast of true crime podcasts about the real life mystery around Jeremy Renner's App and the controversy around it. I had a lot of fun with this show and it helped me get through 2020. I didn't know a lot about Jeremy Renner before this podcast and OMG now I feel like I know even less yet so much more about Hawkeye.
Can't Get Enough of Keanu/We Heart Hartnett:
The 3 hosts are childhood friends who work in entertainment and they cover the filmography of actors Keanu Reeves and Josh Hartnett. I learned about this podcast because I watch host Patrick H. Willhems's YouTube videos (he makes a lot video essays about films). I'm really close in age to the hosts so it's a fun journey to remember Hollywood films the same time they did. I'm also kind of the perfect listener because I was a huge fan of Keanu and Josh growing up. I've watched most of their films, even the more obscure ones.
Goin Off Podcast
Rap Critic and Mues have been music critics online for a long time. This is their podcast where they review albums requested by fans and talk about general pop culture stuff. I mostly tune in because I'm a big fan of Rap Critic on YouTube.
Song vs Song
Todd from Todd in the Shadows and his friend Daniel put 2 hit songs up against each other and talk about which song is better or means more in terms of pop culture history. A lot of fun, especially if you're really into pop songs.
MusicalSplaining
Lindsay Ellis watches musicals with her friend Kaveh and they talk about it. Lindsay loves musicals while Kaveh hates them. Very funny podcast.
Office Ladies:
Jenna Fischer (who played Pam) and Angela Kinsey (who played Angela) recap The Office episode by episode and provide a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff about the show. I loved The Office and I love hearing BTS stuff on shows and movies.
Goblet of Wine: A Drunken British Harry Potter Podcast:
Hannah and Charlie get drunk as they recap the HP books chapter by chapter. They're really funny and this is basically the only HP related thing I enjoy now.
Unfinished:
Anthology investigative podcast series. They cover unresolved tensions in American communities. The first season was about a lynching in the Arkansas Delta and the second season was about Short Creek, a land owned by Mormons who live along the Utah/Arizona border.
