I'm cishet and I find f/f MUCH easier to read than m/m precisely because I find female characters and female sexuality more intuitive to understand. I'm gonna say it's way more internal than societal the effects that determine which ships appeal to a person.

Yeah but I'd say that it affects in SO many different ways in different cultures that it's not fair to go around assuming things like some people do. Not everyone in English speaking fandom is North American y'know.
I'm cis, F, ace and I read m/m almost exclusively. That's radically different from AYRT. What I'm saying is people have VERY different experiences and feelings.
