Did you miss the part where this is a daydream the OP had? It wasn't a "real" fanfic to begin with. They're going to go straight ahead and make it original fiction, no intermediate steps.

No I did not miss the part. But a real fanfic needs some kind of recognizeable tie to canon. Be it the world or the characters in it. Op seems to want to go with option b. But if it is enough to just change name and gender for their story to not be connected to the source Op never actually managed to write the characters they liked so much.

They're...not writing the characters. Nothing has been written. When they write it, they're not going to be writing fanfiction.

Yes I do understand this. I also understand that they want to write an original. But they used phrases like: 'these two' and 'my aziraphael' implying that yes they intent to use these characters just with a different gender and name assigned and plopp them into some new setting.
