AND taking away from female representation.

This is the part that doesn't make sense to people with working logic circuits.

It's only "taking away" from something if it's replacing or removing that thing. It's fanfic. There's not a limit on how many there can be, so the genderswapped fic isn't going to take up a non-swapped fic's spot.

This really seems like one of those things that exclusion tags were invented for. You will never have to read another icky het fic again if you just exlude those tags from your fic search, nonny. And all the femslash will still be right where you left it, because people writing fic you don't like doesn't actually do anything to the fic you do like!
