It was cold but sunny and I got groceries, including the ingredients for homemade sushi.

I got mondo groceries and I might also separately get takeout because... I don't want to cook tonight. Bwomp bwomp.

At least there's only 3 days left in the week

I feel that. I never want to cook dinner in grocery day, no matter how much food I bought, lol.

Today was Day 1 of my new 5-day, 12-week weightlifting workout program. Today was chest, shoulders, and triceps, so lots of bench presses, kickbacks, and lat raises. Bigger sets too. I enjoyed it. Went for a walk earlier this evening. Dinner was good, leftover fried chicken and baked beans, but I bought a package of mixed fresh fruit and it was pretty mediocre, even with a little Nutella. I know, its not really fresh fruit season, but I love fruit and really wanted some. Women womp.

Apparently over my four day weekend, there were phishing emails sent to a whole lot of people who work for my employer, which is a college.

Apparently over that weekend, multiple people fell for the scheme and responded.

Our email service provider blocked all incoming/outgoing email from our domain because of the volume/spam reports on emails originating from it, and last I heard, one of our guys was on the phone with someone from said provider who was telling him that they might not be able to restore service without doing an all-user password reset.

This would likely affect not just faculty and staff but students. Just after the winter semester started.

I work in a different section of IT and could do absolutely nothing to help with this issue, all I could do was sit on the department discord and watch other people metaphorically bashing their heads against the desk, swearing, and asking if they're allowed to drink yet.

Actually managed to get a brief done, shockingly, in spite of intense pain and about 2 hours of sleep last night, nonconsecutive. Had a dentist appointment this morning to deal with the jaw pain I've been having. He found a bit of one of my recent crowns that was sticking out and thinks that was the problem. It had been long enough since I got it that he thinks I've just been clenching because of that long enough to cause the pain.

however, he didn't want to prescribe anything including a muscle relaxant. And later in the day my jaw muscles started spasming. It is pretty bad. I think I'm going to have to call again in the morning.

I took a pet to the vet for her monthly bath, took her bedding and my clothes to the laundromat, got groceries, and so far I've walked 5.5 miles doing all of it.

Gonna go walk another mile and a half. I dunno how long I can keep doing 7 miles a day, but I sat on my ass last year and my average dropped from 6.5 a day in 2019 to 3.7 a day by the end of 2020. I was already fat but now I have chest pain sometimes so I hope the exercise helps. I should go see my doctor when COVID is under better (around here, any) control, but getting lectured about my weight sucks. Like, dude, I know. I'm fat and eat too much fat.

Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, but at least I have a job.

Thanks! I've made sushi at home before and while it's nowhere near as photogenic and neat as a sushi bar, it's tasty.

Good on you for keeping up with your exercise but yes, please talk to your doctor about the chest pain asap. A decent doctor will congratulate you for exercising, not shame you for your weight.

I should try making vegetarian sushi sometime. Even though I haven't eaten meat in decades, I miss seafood.

My doctor and the one I had before him went to the "even if you're not lying about the amount of exercise you get, it doesn't count if you're not losing weight" school of medicine, sigh.

And I'd need therapy and probably meds to diet for any length of time without triggering myself--my mom struggled with her weight her whole life and was only skinny when she took meth, lived off a single serving of yogurt a day, or both.

My dad was schizophrenic and a full blown orthorexic, only the term didn't exist when he put me on all-raw vegetable diets, followed my mom and I to restaurants and lurked in the bushes to ambush us on the way out, frisbeed the spaghetti dinner my mom cooked for my soon to be ex friends into the backyard while screaming and broke half the plates while my friends ran for the door...

He lived off sprouted beans, brown rice, sauerkraut, spirulina, and nutritional yeast. Not to mention his exercise regimen. I'm lucky I can hike without flashbacks.

I think therapists, doctors, and nutritionists run into women like my mom, and adult children of women like her, fairly often.

My dad... Maybe therapists who deal with former child athletes who were kept on restrictive diets might be able to help me, idk.

Most of the nutritional therapist types I've spoken to who deal with diet stuff are nice, but their focus is usually on "these are the basics of healthy eating and self control :-) :-)" and I just smile in response and tell them I know more ways to cook veggies, beans, and rice than they could imagine, and I actually like veggies and fruit fine.

But any talk of portion control or forbidden foods or whatever and my brain is just "nope, I'm out." The only times I've actually tried restricting anything about what/how/when I eat, I last two days max before panicking.

Nothing much. It's super windy out and I'm trying to work on my fic, but my roommates are being loud.

Approaching the end of current fic project. I think this makes the second time this character has almost brought me to tears by providing me with some incredibly bittersweet dialogue towards the other character which I was not expecting to write until I was actually writing it. (He doesn't usually get sentimental at all, but in the rare, most vulnerable moments, occasionally he just bleeds his heart out. I'm supposed to be writing him, I don't know why it takes me by surprise.)

The whole internet was all, "Awwwww, how sweet!" but I keep thinking about this dude and wondering if he had parents growing up and if so, how they got away with doing such an apparently shit job of raising a child. Like how did you raise a grown ass man who can't keep his clothes and himself clean and presentable? How did you raise a grown ass man who can't organize his own bills OR his belongings? The whole thread reinforces the idea that men are dumb children who work and bring home money and women have to cook, clean, teach them to adult and rely on them to pay all the bills. Just... fucking UGH.

My initial reaction is that whoever is behind this account must be a troll.

I'm sure there are people out there who... there's a number of reasons why they're like that. Be it laziness, didn't have the proper example growing up, etc. Etc.

Sometimes it's a culture thing too. My mother raised me to do EVERYTHING. I would always complain that my brother should do things too etc (and mind you, my brother is great), and she would say well, he'll just have to learn. And when he moved out, he did.

However, for every person being raised with a sense of responsibility toward themselves, their living spaces and these general life skills, there's someone being raised to be taken care of. Because the girlfriend in that house had two additional options -- make him learn/teach him or leave and not put up with that grossness.

That first bit about outside clothes -- lmao all of my friends and family knew better than to even look at my bed as a place to sit on if they had been wearing clothing they had worn outside. I would go into conniptions.

I'm watching Cobra Kai and

1) I am way too invested in everyone's life
2) omg Johnny. I'm on S2 beginning and I just want this poor man to go therapy, continue getting his life together :'(

I just feel really bad for him and for Robbie. I can't stand the person Miguel is becoming. Danny has to get his head out his ass/lacks so much self awareness sometimes.

Sigh. And now I'm reading smutty Johnny/OC fics lmao. I need this pandemic to be over. My radar has now expanded to include middle aged men of a questionable degree of attractiveness (it's the brokeness and blue eyes, i can't lie. And the desperation that doesn't settle in completely, lol plus the idea that he was hopefully good in the sack back in the day and has retained the skill). I just wish someone had given this man some fucking lotion though. Some Renew or renewal skin cream aimed at women. I'm not against a rough and worn look, it's not a bad look per se, I just think skin should be treated better than just bearing the storm. It's an organ! Take care of it! But it's in character for Johnny Lawrence to be rough looking, a la he's been around the block and the block's been around him too.

@ that thread above me, I'm sorry, but if I was with someone and I cared about them, and I saw they didn't have some kind of regime for keeping their skin nice I would a)ask them if they would let me take care of them or b)gently nudge them in the direction. Just moisturizer and some sunscreen. Unless they just say "no anon. I'm good." I'll just have to bite my tongue, shake my head and shrug.

LOL I know so much what you mean nonny. Thanks for making me laugh with this comment. Late last year I got into Cobra Kai because my brothers kept reccing it to me. A lot of the characters have something to offer, so the show is good at making you care about everyone. I didn't think I'd develop a crush on Johnny Lawrence either, but here we are. I want him to keep being a good role model to Miguel and whenever Robby looks all sad I want Johnny to finally step up and hug his son for once.

Yeah, definitely, I like that each character is pretty well fleshed out, like you know there's more to them. I want that too, but I'm also hoping for some reconciliation with his (other/actual?/biological) son. **SPOILERS FOR S2E1/2/3?* when Kreese showed up:((( all I could see was that...that hurt kid in Johnny's eyes. Like damn. All I could think of how was how broken men continued to break other men. From Kreese to Johnny, Johny to his own son & trying to do better by his students. It's just so sad and warped :(

I was working through a lot of my family stuff, especially stuff with my dad, when I began watching the show and I cried a lot. LOL It was completely unintentional. Mr. Miyagi was like the ultimate father-figure role I used in my life, and I didn't realize it until I watched Cobra Kai. So I really like the show for fleshing a lot of the characters out. Aww, yes, the whole "broken men continue to break other men" is definitely one of the big themes of the show, right?
