I was just going to post to bitch about her. I loved the first few Anita Blake books. Bad ass female characters are my thing. But as soon as she got into a "relationship" with that vamp all her badassery was gone. He dickmatized her.

Fun fact. Jim Butcher ambushed LKH's agent at a con to pitch his Dresden series and got signed. Sigh. (Most advice is like, don't do this.) Because LKH was the ONLY author he could think of doing what he was doing at the time.

The most annoying thing about LKH is her first few books were solidly detective fiction! There was a romance element but it was mainly noir, mainly detective fiction, and a lot of us got hooked on that... aaaaaand then she took a hard swerve into the porny end of the romance pool.

Which is fine if that's what you've been given to expect from the beginning, like her fairy books, but boy that was annoying from Anita Blake.
