I’m stressed as fuck and it’s only going to get worse for the next few days so tonight I’m making a pot of noodles and I’m not going to resist the urge to eat it all in one go. I’m going to hate myself later but I need this.

That sounds delicious. Go ahead and do it. Some days you need to do that. Sorry you are so stressed, OP. I hope your life gets better. And don't hate yourself for it. It is okay to indulge yourself occasionally as long as it isn't all the time. Sometimes you need to.

All I've eaten today is half a yoghurt because my mouth hurts so much I can't chew anything. My mom's making fish soup tonight, I'm hoping I can get down some of that. I see my dentist in the morning, he wouldn't prescribe the muscle relaxant I need without seeing me first. I've taken every over the counter pain med on my empty stomach and am now super nauseus on top of the pain that has kept me from doing anything productive. I can barely even talk it is so bad.

I hope you can get something down. Taking some pain meds on an empty stomach can make you feel sick and it's not good for your stomach in the long run.

Oh I'm well aware. I should at least be able to eat soup broth, even if I can't eat the fish chunks. And it is only for tonight. I'll have a prescription tomorrow morning, hopefully. It is just hard to even open my mouth all the way because of how badly the muscles are spasming in my jaw.

Awww, I'm sorry!
I know that feeling of just needing *this thing*, so - you go.
I hope your stress eases up!
*hugs*

I admit, a small part of me was worried things wouldn't go smoothly, but they went better than I expected. Lots of great speeches and performances. I'm not being dramatic when I say I got extremely emotional at times, not just over words that were said, but just realizing we don't have a toxic, garbage-spewing, walking turd for president anymore. No more fucking incompetence (or at least low levels of it), no more picking fights, no more cuddling up with other country leaders who like a little bitch they can control, no more shirking duties or dodging responsibilities, no more Twitter meltdowns, no more pushing for alternate realities, no more insane numbers of preventable deaths, no more outrageous lies (leaders lie to some degree, but Diaper Don was in his own league), no more fucking drama. For the first time, I really feel all that shit is over.

I hope other Americans felt similarly today, and don't forget that feeling, and don't stop paying attention to politics, because 2022 and 2024 will be here sooner than we realize. And I don't want a repeat of 2016 or anything worse. And this might sound contradictory to that first sentence, but I'm glad I have a president I don't have to hear about every day, again.

Congratulations to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Thank you, and please be as boring as possible.

Now that the day is over, I think it feels safe to squee over all the historical event stuff I didn't really think about because I was just relieved about the inauguration taking place and the previous administration ending.

(baleeted previous post, it was supposed to be anon, sorry)

I'm so happy about Biden right now. He's preaching unity, but at the same time he got right in there and got things done. Executive orders right out of the gate, and good ones. He wasn't pulling any punches. He got rid of some of the worst of Trumps actions including some of Trump's nastiest immigration executive orders. He's making it clear that it is his presidency now and things are going to be different. His vision of unity means that everyone must be welcome at the table, we have to work together and help each other and actually be a nation that lives the values we claim to have, and hope needs to guide and push us forward to want to make our country a better place.

I voted for Warren. Then I voted for Sanders. But I'm glad Biden won. I think he's the right choice for America. And I think he's going to get some of the things done that both Warren and Sanders wanted while also getting more Americans to actually want those things and to understand why they need to happen.

Maybe I'm just feeling hopeful today. There is still a lot of work to do. And a lot of conservative people who don't believe in this vision of the country. And a lot of angry people. A lot of selfish people. A lot of racist people. A lot of delusional Trump people. But I have hope today.

He's preaching unity, but at the same time he got right in there and got things done.

I also like that while, yes, he talked about the importance of unity, he also didn't shy away from making it clear that we need to choose facts over lies, and acknowledged the threats of white supremacy and racism, while making it clear that what the rioters attempted a couple weeks ago was not successful and, so long as we work to fight it, will never be successful. He definitely seems well aware that we cannot let what the GOP and these rioters did go unpunished, and I know there's been a lot of talk about how his administration is going to put a lot of focus on tackling the problem of domestic terrorism, and treating things like QAnon as the public threat they are. And it's clear the people who are directly responsible for holding these criminals accountable have his support as well. Part of unity is allowing for the chance to hold the necessary people accountable so that we can properly move on, and he seems to really understand that.

I voted for Warren. Then I voted for Sanders. But I'm glad Biden won. I think he's the right choice for America. And I think he's going to get some of the things done that both Warren and Sanders wanted while also getting more Americans to actually want those things and to understand why they need to happen.

Agreed. We've got some new progressive members of Congress joining us, Bernie's got an important role in the administration, and many of his other appointees seem very forward-thinking and progressive in many ways as well. I think Biden's very open to hearing what they have to say, and I have no doubt they'll talk with him often about the right way to steer this country going forward. Some of the big plans may take a little time and work to get fully going, but I definitely think there's plenty of reason to be excited about the possibilities. Sometimes the most dramatic political change can come from the most unassuming of circumstances and people.

So yeah. I'm pretty much sharing the general sentiments here today. It's just so, SO nice to be able to breathe and relax again, and to sleep a little easier at night, and not have to dread reading the news every day. And to know I don't have to give a single crap what Trump or his family have to say ever again as well...that's just the cherry on top. The only time I want to hear about any of them going forward is if/when they're arrested/on trial/going to jail, and in Trump's case, when the day comes when he passes. Otherwise, they don't deserve a moment more of my attention and time.

I don't envy Biden, Harris, and the Democrats as a whole the very, VERY difficult tasks ahead of them. But I have faith, and I know they're up to the challenge. I wish them the very best in all their efforts going forward.

I was worried something awful was going to happen too, but luckily, nothing did. I got a bit emotional too and it felt really strange, but I guess I was just that relieved. I feel like I can stand a little taller today.

Some of my friends were saying that they're happy politics can be boring again so they can stop paying attention and that really worries me. I never paid attention to politics before the twice-impeached tangerine took office and I don't think I can go back to the way I was before where I didn't care.

I watched the inauguration on tv today and one of the commenters said that a boring president was a good president, and I lol'd at that but it's accurate compared to what we just went through.

I keep flip-flopping on how I actually feel about the whole situation.

On the one hand, Trump being gone is great, yay, I don't have to wake up every freaking day wondering what racist, xenophobic, mysogynist, otherwise disgusting, or just plain STUPID thing he is going to do while representing us to the rest of the world to make his moronic bigoted base cheer for him. Biden has his flaws (he was like 3rd to last of the initial pool of candidates I wanted to vote for) but at least he's sensible and not the personification of chaotic evil.

But on the other hand, Trump's moronic bigoted base is still there, they're still insisting the election was stolen, and some of them are willing to commit violence over it. And some of them are in Congress. And I for one am never going to be okay with "unity" that includes actual Nazis and people who tried their best to overthrow democracy in favor of fascism. No unity without accountability, and the problems that CAUSED Trump to get elected are not going to disappear overnight.

But darned if it wasn't great seeing a president actually give an intelligible speech and display empathy and enthusiasm for the country and the process and the people instead of just the power and title. And then go in and get right to work doing things to protect the environment/health/immigrants/etc. instead of intentionally trying to destroy them.

After my work day was done I rolled over and dozed for a couple hours and was more comfortable and relaxed than I remember having been for months, so that's also something. For now I am just going to enjoy it.

And hope that I also get to enjoy the mug shots of the entire Trump family very soon when SDNY nails them for tax fraud and so on.

I hope this isn't too random, but speaking from personal experience, when I've experienced delusional thinking, on one level I knew it was delusion (not enough of a level to cope with it, though). If I could see and speak to ghosts I'd probably think I'm psychic. Plenty of those to go around! I know pagans who see their spiritual guides as dragons, etc.

I remember being relieved when I was diagnosed, not when I thought I was crazy! This stuff is all so vague and inchoate it's hard to discuss, forgive my rambling.
