Bullshit. People do this stuff in every fandom. You just come off as trying to be holier than fucking thou.

I don't know the fandom, but I agree. Villain fans get crap these days regardless of the fandom. Some people just can't seem to understand that liking something fictional has nothing to do with real life. They themselves I guess relate villains to real life things and so assume everyone else sees villains that way.

Of course, there is the other extreme of people who do actually justify villains actions and woobify them and talk about them as if they are the real heroes of the story, but those people aren't hurting anything since we're talking about fictional characters. Whereas the people who can't make a separation between fiction and reality and think everyone else views the world that way and makes judgments people based on their opinions of fictional characters are way more worrying to me.

I think it really depends on the fandom? There are some fandoms where the villains are pretty adored.

Sure, but then those fandoms get judged for being like that.

Or at least unfamiliar with how villain fans are treated currently.

Yeah, I mean aren't all the characters MoC?

I think they're comparing these characters to other popular villains who aren't POCs.

What is concern trolling?

I'm not active in this fandom, but the guy on the right with the flute is fucking gorgeous and the villain aspect just makes him hotter, imo (I know he's the evil cultivator who possessed some other dude etc etc). Plus he's such a clown/smart ass (when he's not being evil).

Not just this fandom or just characters of color, I think. Honestly, over the last 10 years or so fandom has really got shitty about villains and their fans. Must be the obsession with "healthy" ships. I ship characters because they're interesting, not on whether they would have a "healthy" relationship or not!

I look forward to people posting about the Loki series only to encounter finger-wagging about he's an abuser and nobody should like him.

Agreed that I find "they looked at each other once = true love" to be bad romance writing. Happens more often than I'd like!

i mean, you're going to have a tough time comparing those villains as they both really aren't meant to be more than antagonists ultimately. hannibal is a power fantasy of killing the worst people, and loki is clearly supposed to be beloved. also mcu people had big beef with loki-stans so you're wrong there.
