I mean, my experiences aren't universal, but for me personally, every femslash fan I've met has been super hungry for messed up relationships, me included.

You might be interested in Femslash After Dark, which isn't necessarily about dark fic (it's interested in non-dark explicit/smutty fic too), but is very much friendly to dark fic.

I think there's a perception that f/f fandom and fic is pressured to be positive and pure, and there's been a ton of frustrating discourse around it. But I also think there's a ton of appetite for less-healthy and less-pure depictions, and I think it's opening up a lot, so I say go for it.

I'd read the shit out of it.

Exactly why this pressure for f/f to be pure and healthy all the time that we need more fics like yours op! But I understand the worry.

I can understand the desire for certain fic providing"good" representation, etc etc but human relationships are messy PERIOD. Het, slash, femslash, it doesn't matter. And again, I completely get wanting to have that "ideal everyone treats each other with respect and love" relationship esp. when there are little to no examples of it in the mainstream, etc. Etc. But... it's fic. There's people who are into these messed up dynamics, and it seems likes you've got a good plot. The genre of fic lends itself to the sandbox. So if you're really concerned, just make a side account for posting those types of fic. If you decide to post! Maybe you don't want to, and that's okay too.

The pressure to be pure/good is definitely there in femslash but it's most present in the YA/kids' media like She-Ra. Not so much in Star Trek.

The last time I was heavily invest in f/f fandom it was Madoka, and then briefly a flirtation with Swanqueen after that. Mindgames for all. And I get that fandom mores may have changed since but... why bother writing fic at all if you're going to let that kind of thing hold you back?

Also, I disagree that portrayal of an unhealthy relationship automatically equates to unfeminist writing. It's honestly unfeminist to box women into preset molds and not let female characters be able to inhabit the diverse roles that male characters get to.

Given how the hot thing in lesbian SFF seems to be the delightfully fucked up Gideon/Harrowhawk, I'd say go for it.

OK, so, my introduction to femslash was mostly Xena/Gabrielle, where there was so much fucked up relationship dynamics in canon that the fics filled the whole spectrum and everyone loved it from fluffy happy rainbows to dark psychological torture.

What I'm saying here is, WRITE IT, I'm sure people will enjoy even the dark stuff!
