I go with +/- 8 myself. My parents are 4 years apart. They seem to do okay. When I face cast for stuff and I know I'm going to have a couple, I do try to keep them withing the +/- 8 years for the actors/actresses.

Seriously, I saw a age difference of the actors/actresses for the Bond films once for Bond and the Bond Girls and it was creepy! I was like "uh, no. No thanks." Then, I've had both younger guys and older guys (old enough to be my dad guys) hit on me and look, can I have someone my own age please. (My actor crush is 2 years and 7 months older than me EXACTLY. So... yeah... I'll see myself out.)
