Though I'm not too big into manga now, I gotta say there are some AWESOME Japanese comics out there that aren't all shonen shit (i.e. BLEACH or NARUTO or REBORN) and dramatic fluff (i.e. every shoujo on the planet). If you haven't read Monster, I don't think you can actually make the statement that all Japanese manga is crap. The music is, on the whole, much crappier though, I agree. XD Japanese boy bands who all look alike and sound terrible, visual kei, and anime/manga musicals sung by look-alikes who really have no business with a microphone...just some of the things I avoid like the plague.

174. I understand exactly where you're coming from. I think the weirdest part about it isn't the annoying males who make fun of us and our little boy voices, but the FEMALES who seem to hate us simply for being female. I just don't understand why most other gamer girls are such assholes. The nice ones are out there and I have found them, but they are so few and far between compared to the bitches. Obviously they're just feeling threatened and are taking out their aggression on what they see as the damper to their attention whoring, but goddamn if they don't ruin the game sometimes.

188. Wait, wait, let me guess. You guys either have an online-only relationship, or you're doing things long distance and only see each other every few weeks and/or months? That or you're both like 15. MAYBE BOTH?

I really want to read Monster, but I don't want to read scanalations, and I'm poor. and isn't like 300 million volumes? Someone needs to sell one giant book of the whole series that I can buy and read.

All of my info is probably completely wrong, I just wanted to reply as a means to motivate myself to read it finally. haha

Why don't you want to read scanlations? If you can't afford it, just read them and then go back and buy the books when you DO have the money.

Yeah I know, I should just read it and buy them later. I just do genuinely feel bad pirating.. especially since I just sent my apps to IP law programs this week. haha

I think I might and buy them after I finish my apps and get some money back =)

I figured the guilt was why but didn't want to assume. ;) I personally don't feel bad at all pirating, especially when I check out a series and find it's stupid as hell. Saved myself some money I'd say. But if I like what I pirate, I usually do buy the real thing when I can afford to since who doesn't like owning the genuine article?

You really won't regret reading monster, scanlation or otherwise. It's just that good.

Well, it's not quite 300 million, but it is 18 volumes. You can probably pick some of them up for cheap on Amazon sellers or something though. (It's TOTALLY worth it!!)

I love Monster. It's not quite as fun of a read as more lighthearted fare, admittedly, but its author is a master storyteller and it has some amazing segments and characters (Heinrich Lunge being the best, of course).

We only see each other every few months.
