185.- No, I wouldn´t. I get offended not when a certain touchy situation is retold, but when it is retold in a tasteless way that wants to offend people.
For me Hetalia is like a history lesson for kids. And you don´t show kids all the gruesome images and details, do you?
And yes, all the wars are horrible. But it hurts less when time has passed.
Honestly, the USA has mocked the whole world for years using stereotypes in their media. I don´t get why everybody is so offended by this silly gag manga.

Unfortunately, some people believe you should. My mother was one of them... Every time we got close to the Holocaust sections in my history books, I got really, really nervous about what she probably had taped off the History channel as "supplemental material" for me. Hetalia is like a breath of fresh air for me...

I agree that adults should tell kids the truth. But the information should be given according to their age and maturity. Otherwise, they´d get traumatized because they are too young to understand the harsh facts of life.

To an extent, yes. I was shown corpses from the Holocaust on a video in public school.
And yes, all the wars are horrible. But it hurts less when time has passed.
Not when people affected by the wars and their immediate offspring are still alive. If you think the outcome of war hurts less "after time has passed" you obviously haven't been paying attention to history (WWII wouldn't have happened if Europe hadn't been reeling from WWI -- not to mention that WWI completely changed European society in a drastic way).

I really get so tired of hearing this excuse. "Well the USA did it, so everyone else gets to do it, too." Just because American media and culture has mocked and stereotyped other countries, that doesn't make it okay for other countries to do it, too. And there's a general consensus among most of the educated American populace that this is a bad thing to do, apparently there's no such consensus in Japan. I don't think the Japanese have a term for "politically correct".

Well, in my opinion that could traumatize kids more than a silly manga. And wouldn´t allow my children to watch that.

It´s clear that you and I have a different perception. I respect your point of view but I don´t agree with it.
