Investing in stocks is not really a practical way to significantly increase wealth for most people - it might be prudent financial planning, but most people probably aren't going to get rich from it. When I say 'significantly increase wealth', what I'm thinking is like, an order of magnitude change in net worth. Results over and above the overall rate of growth of the market.

My parents were poor, lol. So stow your assumptions.
