Those are more like "target date funds" and depending on where they're from, it's more about automatic asset allocation i.e. managers watching and adjusting the ratio of stocks/bonds for you and not index vs. individual stocks necessarily.

They generally also charge more than self-managed/balanced index investing though.

Passive index investing is really much easier than it looks, and easier than finance guys want you to believe (cause they want to get paid for doing it for you, lol). Just find a ratio of stocks and bonds that fit a risk level you find acceptable, like 80% stocks 20% bonds for a retirement 30 years away. Then put x% into a total market stocks index fund, and y% into a total market bonds index fund.

Then wait 30 years. That's it, you're done.
