Perhaps I'm naive but yes, I think you should say why it's a secret. I have an OTP that I just can't stand seeing them with any other character. I say this quite loudly and proudly. I don't bash other writers who do write them with other characters, nor do I insult the intelligence of readers who like to read it. I just refuse to write it and read it myself.

It's my prerogative whether to write them or not and it's my choice if I read them or not. I'm willing to stand behind my enjoyment of a fandom as MY choice and will not be dictated by anyone else.

As soon as someone says "it's my OTP and I don't like to see them with any other character" people assume that person is just a "crazy asshole" (as someone in a comment worded it) or an "immature fangull" even if they don't have any other reason to think that D: and my fandom is full of that kind of fans.

I see where you're coming from and it sucks that people are such kneejerk reactors in a fandom. I've seen a good friend attacked as being close minded because she has an OTP that she says she gets physically ill when she sees them paired with someone else.

Nothing you can do except be very gentle in your firm stance that yes, it's great to have a preference that is more fluid in its configuration but you still prefer to see them together and not with anyone else.

I would suggest wording here that does not get perceived as so judgmental. "I don't like to see them..." suggests that there is something wrong with someone who does like it and I think that is what they are reacting to when someone says that. Not logical and perhaps not even true because even the way your secret and comment were worded it didn't sound like you would ever judge someone, but that's the way of sensitive fans these days. They are so sensitive about what they like and the perception that strangers over the internet may not like them for something they like that they get crazy when someone might hold a different opinion.

Guess I'm trying to say I do see where you're coming from and can sympathize with you and that I'm just older now in my fandom security that I can and will stand up for what I like and if other people feel like they're being attacked because I don't like Treize with Wufei, that I really love Treize with Zechs; that I won't read them and won't write them (Treize and Wufei) together but don't begrudge anyone who is a fan...well...there's a problem here and it isn't mine. I can't be responsible for their 'internet security and comfort'. Only my own.
