Wait, wait wait wait...you're not even looking to see for yourself? In that case, frankly, I pity you. Because you (and whoever told you this) are quite mistaken. I'm active in the fandom, and I can't stand shouta. I write gen, thank you very much.

Quite frankly, I want to know where the OP of 151 has been looking. Because it certainly hasn't been around

professorlayton. And hell, even the majority of the stuff on

layton_luke features Luke's older self, who is a freakin' CANON CHARACTER.

The operative word as to why I'm not actively looking atm is that I am playing it "currently", as I said in my first comment. I know better than to venture into an established fandom without completing the game - I don't want spoilers, but neither do I expect people in that fandom to cover up their spoilers for a latecomer. (Although it looks like I couldn't dodge that one in the last sentence. ^^;)

I was simply mourning the (percieved) fact that I wouldn't have a nice fandom to join once I was finished. Thanks for suggesting otherwise, and good for you, writing gen. There's far too little of that in fandom as a whole.

...oh my goodness, sincerest apologies for that D: Older Luke is in the trailer for the third game, and I guess I'm accustomed to everyone very openly discussing him. So I am very sorry, I spoke without thinking.

The Layton fandom does tend more towards gen and crack, though there is admittedly shipping. But at the same time, Luke/Flora and Layton/[character from third game] are also very popular, and neither of those is shouta. It's a friendly, active little fandom with a lot of really good artists and writers. And everyone's always happy to have new faces around :D

To be honest I didn't even realise there was a third game in production. I'm in Europe, and the first game was only released here two months ago and is already not stocked in shops anymore - you have to search it out online. So I kind of presumed we wouldn't be getting any sequels over here even if they had been made in Japan. ^^; I hope the fact that I was only aware of the first game answers why I was so vehemently anti Luke/Layton in my first comment - I've only ever seen him (in game, in promo and online) as a child. ^^;

Thanks for enlightening me. I'll make sure to have a peek around the fandom once I'm reasonably caught up with everyone else!

The third game came out in Japan in November. We're hoping to get game two stateside sometime this year, and hopefully Europe will get it just as soon.
