I had thee exact opposite reaction, mostly because I got a hold of the books with her as the star from a used book store first and fell in love with her as a character. When I moved on to the later books in the series, I just didn't enjoy them as much. I'm not particularly interested in Miles as a character the way I am with Cordelia. I don't find him particularly interesting or enjoyable to read.

Totally not surprised to hear SPN fans are doing this. This is SPN fans being their super obsessive selves. But no, you have no duty to follow actors onto other things if you don't want to.

The young SPN fans are not really what I'd consider the target audience for a "Rah Rah Rah LAW ENFORCEMENT ARE SO BADASS!" kind of show.

Yeah I've never got this sentiment from fans, I won't watch a show just because it has an actor who played a character I liked in it. I'll watch if the premise sounds interesting to me and that's it.
