It sounds like you live in Australia. You might want to clarify that. Holding a concert hits very differently for the US-based people right now, there's no such thing as a safe state over there.

I don't live in Australia, but yes the concert is in Australia, I wanted to go but international flights are not happening obviously. He's kind of a big deal in the UK and Europe in general, I'm sure he knows he's got fans who wouldn't want to miss his last concert. I have friends from another state who had tickets and then the borders closed down, so the pandemic is bad enough for them to do that but not bad enough to cancel the show.

Didn't know the US is the default and if one talks about any other country they should specify it, wow

Since people from multiple other countries frequently refer to Australia as β€œthe States,” clearly everyone should assume Australia when they hear the term.

Sorry, I'm confused, who referred to Australia as "the States"?

Learn how to read, American

AYRT

I don't live in the US myself, but as you can clearly see from the comments, people already assume that and are reacting more strongly than the OP meant for them to. Australia is currently hosting the freaking Australian Open, for reference. Gatherings are well within their guidelines in many places. So holding a concert during a pandemic isn't quite the asshole behavior, but trolling your fans is.

While it's true they are trying to hold the Australian Open as planned there is still no guarantee that there will be any spectators, and as of yesterday (new community transmission cases) the whole event may still be cancelled or postponed.

Many Victorians weren't happy/didn't think it was a good idea to even try to hold the Open this year at all.
