I ended up dropping WTNV a few episodes after the big live show episode (49a?)
Something just seemed off.
I think it's because we'd had a gradual build up to a big moment and then we were back to usual episodes again, but this time with the underlying understanding that it would build up to something else at some point.

It made the regular episodes feel like filler with a dash of plot and i didn't vibe with that at all.

It's a damn shame because those first 20 or so episodes were golden and I'll forever be sad that they decided to veer away from episodic.

Also i haven't seen a single reference of newer Night Vale stuff and i think that says something when people are still referencing the glowcloud from episode 2.

I listened to the Capital Campaign ep which i thought was weak AF for a new season episode. Then came Rumbling in which we discover that the showrunners were already setting up something big and overarching. Then the Retirement of Pamela Winchell happened and i suddenly realised that everything happening in Night Vale (the thing that hooked me to begin with) was now a distraction from whatever was going on with the Carlos plot.
I then slogged through the September Monologues which i would have loved pre-ep49a, got to Homecoming before i dropped the show for good.
