I hope to god that that's a troll post, if so, congratulations, you've done a good job.

If not, you really need to analyze what you just said.
You have no idea how much work and concept goes into animated shows.
Being an Art Major at a college, yes, I do find it embarassing to tell others that anime has influenced my work. But you know what? I'm glad that it does. It expanded my imagination, has made my interest in art expand over the years, and I feel as if they are as good of a medium as any other. I feel as if you are disrespecting the work of the artists, concept designers, composers and many more people who pour their expression into so many animes. Yes, there are animes that are geared toward adolescent audiences, but many others are just wonderful stories as well as intellectual and mature shows. Being in a fandom of an anime is completely natural, if you see something you are fascinated by and want to find those who also share your interest, Its just fine to be in an anime fandom. Being as shallow as you seem to be by your secret, I just hope you can understand that 'anime' or any animated show in general can be a viable medium of expression and narration.

This. I realize 128 is just a humongously obvious troll, but people need to get over this "animation is for children" thing.

Seconding.
I'm an animator. My medium has just as much value as anything live action, damnit.

THIS.

I'm not even a big fan of anime in general, but for years I've wanted to be an animator so what you said totally struck home.

The medium does not determine how sophisticated the story telling is. Granted, I think the OP might be too daft to realize that it is really all about the story.

I agree! I'd even argue that the freedom you get with animation allows you to do much more interesting storytelling: just look at WALL-E.

Anime =/= Animation.
Animation = Animation.
Anime = Japanese Animation.

Not all animation is Japanese animation/anime.

But I do agree with you.
