Honestly, unless someone has a strong and consistent kink for animal characters, and/or a kink for dressing up as an animal, and/or a kink for fucking another person dressed up as and pretending to be an animal, I just don’t really find the furry label relevant.

Like half of my female friends had crushes on Robin Hood the fox as kids, and to my knowledge, not a single one of them is in the furry scene now, or even in fandom (more’s the pity).

When a narrative treats a character like a person, and gives them anthropomorphized traits, and a human-like mode of behavior, I honestly think it’s just basic SOP for people to react to that character as though they were human, including potentially being attracted to them.

yeah, exactly. consuming anthropomorphic media and identifying with or crushing on characters happens to basically all of us; using that experience to unlock a kink that leads one toward furry (fursonas, costumes, and/or sexual situations irl) is something that can occur but doesn't always.

I say this as someone who very much had a lot of anthro faves in childhood but that never did at any point carry over into my kinks or adult life.

All of this.

And who *didn't* crush on the foxes in Robin Hood? They were both awesome and so pretty.

Same. Also Disney's Robin Hood (yes the fox).
