I couldn't bring myself to hate him. In fact, he was my favorite character. But he was awful, so like, I get why people would hate him. (Though in my defense, a solid half the characters on TVD were equally awful, so there's that.) I just could not resist being drawn in by his evil pixie monster charm. And yeah, teh hotness.
