I got a juror qualification questionnaire in the mail today for federal court and I have no way out of it, I have to fill it out. I FUCKING HATE THIS. Serving should be voluntary, NOT FORCED.

I got one when I was in grad school and wrote that I was a grad student and having to take time off my studies would be a hardship. Never heard back. Guess that was a good enough excuse. I've never been able to get out if county-level jury duty like that (although I've also never actually been selected from the pool once I got there).

AYRT
I'm unemployed, have no therapist, not disabled. Can't get out of anything if they pick me. I have to start making excuses or just let my anxiety/depression get the best of me and cry.

Filling out the questionnaire doesn't mean you'll get called. Getting called doesn't mean you'll get selected. Take a deep breath, and try not to borrow trouble.

No. The type of people who would volunteer to serve on a jury are exactly the type of people you don't want serving on a jury.

People who want a no-questions-asked day off work?

Put that on your form and you might not get picked.
