Thanks for the recs! I'm definitely going to check them out -- although I'm pretty sure some of the main characters will be human (but they can be of a specific people?), it helps to have knowledge of other species and planets (planets and the people who live there and why etc -- literally yesterday I learned who the Twi'leks were despite seeing them in SW media ALL MY LIFE). I mean, I could just make things up (since it is just for me lol) but I would rather have some threads of actual canon in the story. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a "Divergent Timeline" type of fic, but so what? Lol that's fic. Maybe it will be the kind I post (for other people looking for self indulgent nonsense lol), but esp. for that reason I want to have at least a few key elements "grounded in reality", as it were. There's no way I'm going to get the actual plot threads involved however, maybe just a few mentions or nods to it, but...anyway, thanks!!! And congrats on the blog post -- I'm going to have to check it out.
