Imo people - in general - getting what they want out of fic is more valuable than building the respectability of fic is. I don't think that the hypothetical tradeoff involved in putting limits on fanfic to make it more respectable is a good one.

(And I also think that making porn, especially female oriented porn, more normalized and respectable is a valid goal as well)

Fic and fanart has always been an expression of women's and lgbt sexuality, for the most part. Trying to make that 'respectable' kind of defeats the object of its existence. Society never had any allowance for women or lgbt people's sexualities to be 'respectable'. It still doesn't.

Trying to drag fandom into that sphere and make fic and fanart out to be art forms just puts it back in the arena where it was never welcome in the first place.

What's wrong with it being mostly 'just' porn? I mean, if you're against that aspect than no, you are in fact not for normalizing female dominated fandom spaces because much of female dominated fandom spaces is just for that: for porn. It's a contradiction to say otherwise and there are not many other spaces online or offline where female created pornography is acceptable.

Are there a good number of fics that contain sexually explicit material? Sure. Do some of those fics not really have a plot other than the sex? Yeah. Do the majority of fics that I see have only sex as the point? I would say no. That aside, I'm not sure why a fic that is only there to get someone off would not be a valid art form. Why is getting someone aroused any less valid than getting them angry or sad or happy? Yes, some writers are more creative or better at structure than others, but that is true for every form of art to ever exist.

imo, the problem then lies in people's stigmatization of porn. I get that there is a lot of cringy and weird porn, but there is also a lot of beautiful and expressive porn too... hell, even cringe porn can be a form of expression, I guess.

In my opinion, creating fanfics/fanart is something to do for fun and as an expression of interest in the creation that inspires it. Horniness is one element of it too (not my area of interest personally, I'm mostly a slut for intimacy and romance - but I'll read smut if there's a interesting storyline to go with it and appreciate the porn art because sometimes the art can be that good), and it's awesome when people get inspired by fandom and/or find their deeper meaning within it.
By all means OP if you wanna prove it's a real serious art form to gain whatever approval you're seeking, I wish you the best.

Erotica is a completely valid literary genre. It's one that's been disrespected and marginalized for far too long - especially when written by people other than cishet white men - and frankly, it sounds like you're buying into that.

You don't have to read the porn though. It's fairly easy to avoid unless stuff isn't tagged properly. I'm curious to know what would make fic a valid art form in your opinion. Technical mastery? Less flowery language? Less smashing A with B?

See, this seems fair to me because a dog that kills someone else's chickens is a big problem and if the dog owner isn't at minimum incredibly apologetic and horrified... that makes them an asshole, IMO. It's even more significant if, say, those chickens are an important part of someone's livelihood, income or diet via the eggs/meat, which was often the case in Old West/pioneer era. That act of destruction has taken food off their table and destroyed livestock. They'll have to start all over again, which takes time and money they might not have.

This... is an incredibly stupid secret.

Also, the term Karen is ridiculous in general, but particularly in this case. I know people like you think all of humanity's evils can be ascribed to one demographic (rich, white), but there are plenty of rich and famous assholes of all races flouting the pandemic rules. Pretty sure it's just an entitlement thing in general.
