I'd really like to try Stardew Valley but man, it really does have a fugly aesthetic.

Really? For a retro style game I think it has a lovely aesthetic. There is definitely 8-bit done bad in some games, but to me this isn't one of them.

If Stardew Valley is one of them, it definitely has a ton of mods for the character portraiture if that’s something you’d want to futz with.

yeah, after many years of not playing it and sticking to harvest moon, I downloaded a fuckton of mods to make it pretty haha

I just started SDV specifically because it was described to me as "harvest moon but you can be gay" and I was sold. So far I'm having a blast but the only one who really likes me is SHANE and I don't know what to do with that information.

But I have no interest in dating unless I can be queer about it welp

Stardew is such a fun little game, and I honestly find the art refreshing and easy to look at. The thing that took me out of the romance aspect of it was that nearly every one of the romance options seemed (to behave so) -young-.

Yes! Emily, Shane, Leah, Harvey and maybe Eliot are okay, but Alex, Sam, Haley, Sebastian, Maru and Abigail are babies. Penny I'm not sure about, since she acts fairly young but also has an abusive parent, which warps behaviour and development.
