I'm so glad I watched the Master and Commander movie before I read the books. I love the movie in its own right, but it's not exactly a faithful adaptation. Now I get to love the movie and the novels. :)

If fell out of fandom after reading the books as I didn't get the same slashy vibe from the characters.

Aw I love the books. They're such a great read. A bit heavy on the nautical terminology though so I can see how they wouldn't be for everyone. It's a lot to wade through if you're after the slashy bits (which I totally was).
