(Anonymous) 2021-02-14 03:49 am (UTC)(link)Of course it matters a lot though. In the idol industry they are produced by big businesses. If the groups are not making money for these businesses, they WILL disband. And disbanding means they won't be supported by these big businesses that make k-pop the global phenomenon it is so they definitely won't be popular worldwide because for regular Korean people (or, well, people from anywhere other than the US and UK and pretty much) it's almost impossible to be popular worldwide no matter how talented they are so. It's just how it works and it is also why k-pop fans are crazy about popularity. We're not saying "stop liking Blackpink!" just "give other groups an opportunity to shine!" but of course it has to be organic. And of course if other people don't like cute concepts... they just don't like, period. What annoys me is, well, to me, it does look prejudiced and just "ew, cutesy concepts!", you know, the old "ew, girls!" but with adults.
Again, sorry but maybe I just didn't get your point.
