Yeah, I think this is the easiest way to do that sort of thing without writing yourself into ever more complicated knots to put in an Achilles heel he hasn't had up until this point. It's emotionally satisfying. And hell, if you play it right, you could make it into some kind of a Chekhov's Gun situation, where it's some mundane item (maybe one she's always had?) you can introduce at the start that does him in in the end.
