I have an irrational hate for Zutara. I'm not even quite sure why, I just loathe that pairing.
However, I think Zuko/Katara as friendship in s3 is super great.

Plus, their bad-ass back-to-back fire-and-water fighting works better without them being a couple, imo.

"They should never be a couple because they work better as enemies. Put them in a couple situation and you have two tiresome people arguing with each other all the time. Dead mothers and a passionate nature do not a healthy relationship make."
Seriously. TSR proved it. They are both passionate people. And they both egged on each other's negative notions and feelings and ended up hurting Aang and Sokka. But in the end they both headed to Aang's words because not only was Aang right, but he is the opposite of the two of them and was the calming force in the situation. Passionate people like Zuko or Katara need that calming force. Neither of them possesses it when they get their dander up.
Despite the prevailing notions in this fandom - Katara is a 14 year old girl. She is not a goddess of seduction. She is not shallow and in fact after the Fortuneteller she neither looked at, flirted with, or even mentioned another boy except for Aang. Zuko is not the god of seduction. In fact, he is a moody, jealous, verbally awkward fellow who fell for the girl who loved him - flaws, scar, and all.

I've tried seeing what Zutarians see and it just does not compute. Especially when we have real examples of friends turning into romantic partners that people refuse to acknowledge and even ridicule.
