129: I hear you, OP. I used to be a Zutaran, until the end of season two/beginning of season three when it became screamingly obvious that they weren't going to end up together. In my defense, I thought Zuko was going to join the GAang at the end of season two, and Zuko and Katara would have way more positive interaction. Which is why it was after season two that my Zutara tendencies wanted, and were finally snuffed out at about the time of "The Beach" (Maiko ftw). And while I certainly can be a fan of non-canon couples, there's an attitude that some Zutarans have that just turns me off to the pairing, period.
Oy, long reply is very long.

141: Is that an adult and a kid? To me it kinda looks like two kids kissing, which is cute...

158: Why? how is its continued existence affecting you? I stopped watching it this season, but if other people like it, hey, knock yourselves out. And there are a lot of other shows I don't care about either, but ya know... I just don't watch them. Whatever.

As someone who also used to be interested in Zutara, I hear where you're coming from. I spent months and months reading all the "big fics" that existed at the time, but the deeper I got into fandom and the longer the show went on, the less the ship made sense to me. And yes -- the attitudes of many of its fans, and their behavior in the common areas of fandom, drove me away from shipping it even for fun.

Not the OP, but its existence affects me by keeping actors I like from other television projects and by sapping attention, viewers and money from the things I DO like. But that's just my opinion, and I don't expect everyone to agree with it.

I got the appeal of Zutara. Even me, a die-hard incurable Kataanger, liked some of the fan art and some of the AU stuff. But once season 3 aired and the finale aired and people started really dumping on characters I loved - like Aang - for no other reason than shipping and people really started ridiculing a pairing I enjoy, I just found myself unable to enjoy anything Zutara.

Now, I take happiness in the knowledge that love and friendship prevails and a lost arrow-headed boy and a grief-stricken water tribe girl were able to find what they were missing in each other - someone to believe in them, someone who had hope and faith in them, someone who loved them for who they were, etc. They were the missing pieces to each other's puzzles.

And I get an amazing finale kiss to squee over...LOL :D I'm hopeless.
